  1. Liechtenstein is a principality located in central Europe between Austria
  2. and Switzerland. It was part of the Holy Roman Empire until 1806. Since 1866
  3. it has been independent. The present constitution, adopted in 1921, vests
  4. legislative power jointly in the Sovereign and the Landtag which is
  5. constituted of only 15 elected members. Roman Catholicism is the main
  6. religion and German is the official language. Liechtenstein is a member of
  7. the European Free Trade Association and thus party to the recently
  8. established European Economic Area.
